Golden thread, the art of dressing from north Africa to the far east, at the quai Branly – Jacques Chirac museum
A dazzling exhibition is about to open at the musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac! Au fil de l’or will retrace the history of this precious metal in the textile arts, revealing the beauty and diversity of costumes from the Maghreb to Japan, via the countries of the Middle East, India and China, all woven from gold.

“Degenerate” art: the trial of modern art under Nazism, at the Musée Picasso
In 1937, the Nazi regime organised a propaganda exhibition in Munich entitled “Degenerate Art”, featuring 700 works by around a hundred artists, including Otto Dix, Paul Klee and Vassily Kandinsky, in a display designed to arouse visitors’ disgust. These artists, perceived as threats to German “purity”, were methodically removed from museum collections. 20,000 works by Van Gogh, Chagall, Picasso and many others were withdrawn, sold or destroyed.

Art in the street, at the Musée d’Orsay
With this exhibition, the Musée d’Orsay will be looking at the illustrated poster in Paris in the second half of the 20th century, presenting nearly 300 works by ” masters of the poster ” such as Toulouse-Lautrec, Bonnard, Mucha… This exhibition will also trace the social and cultural changes that enabled the development of this street art.

Artemisia, heroine of art, at the Jacquemart-André museum
The Musée Jacquemart-André will be honouring the Roman artist Artemisia Gentileschi (1593 – circa 1656), one of the few women artists of the modern era to have achieved international fame during her lifetime.
Some forty paintings will highlight Artemisia Gentileschi’s role in the history of 17th-century art.

Don’t miss the 4 major cultural events in Paris in 2025
In addition to these exhibitions, there will be four major events in Paris in 2025, ranging from the return of an iconic monument to a gigantic artistic project:
Paris noir: artistic circulations and anti-colonial resistance, 1950-2000, at the Centre Pompidou
Before it closes for renovations, the Centre Pompidou will be tracing the presence and influence of black artists in France between the 1950s and 2000, presenting works by 150 Afro-descendant artists who have often never been exhibited in France. The exhibition will also be punctuated by installations providing a contemporary perspective on this memory.

Wes Anderson, at the Cinémathèque Française
The Cinémathèque is set to pay tribute to the director ofThe Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch and La Vie Aquatique: Wes Anderson! This exhibition will follow the evolution of his work, from his first steps in the 90s to his most recent films. Numerous props, original costumes and documents from his personal collection will be on display, offering a fresh insight into his world.

Deserts, at the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle
This spring, the Museum will be taking us on a journey through the planet’s desert environments: from the Sahara to the polar deserts, via the Sonoran, Atacama and Gobi deserts, to gain a better understanding of these extreme environments and discover how living organisms adapt to them.

Matisse and Marguerite: the gaze of a father, at the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris
We know most about Matisse as an artist, less about his father. This new exhibition will bring together 110 works by Matisse to show the fatherly view he took of his eldest daughter, Marguerite Duthuit-Matisse, a discreet but essential figure in his family circle.

Agnès Varda’s Paris, here and there, at the Musée Carnavalet
The Musée Carnavalet will be taking a closer look at a key figure in Paris’s 14th arrondissement: Agnès Varda. The exhibition will present the still little-known photographic work of the artist, and the importance of Paris in Agnès Varda’s artistic process. The exhibition will also include a tour of her courtyard studio in the rue Daguerre.
